Thank you Michael for your impressions of the M2.
I was hoping to see some samples of the M2 vs 1Ds vs 10D as a landscapist's tool. I read you clearly in your silence that you don't consider it a 1st class tool for landscape, and a visual comparison would make clear where it shines and where it falls short. Resolution is not the whole story, which is why a side by side comparison of 100% crops would be instructive.

I didn't mention "sharpness" because there isn't much to say. The camera is from the same image quality mold as the 10D and 1Ds, and Rebel for that matter. The imaging chip may have slightly different pixel pitch and size, but otherwise they are of the same design, though as I stated each generation gets a bit better.
People shouldn't look for some dramatic change in this area. The real story with this camera is the shooting performance, not the image quality - which is terrific.
At 8MP it will produce bigger prints than those from a 10D and smaller ones that those from a 1Ds. There will be small differences in noise at any particiular ISO and small differences in colour balance. Otherwise Canon's current cameras produce pretty similar image quality. The rest is pixel peeping.

Thanks Michael for the field report on the MkII!
A question. No mention of sharpness.
Much discussion netwise re. II's comaparative sharpness re. 1D, etc.
A question often expressed is whether-or-not in-camera sharpening settings make possible equivalent sharpness out-of-canmera to the "old 1D.
Comment?
PS. I am also starting this thread as one to which I can refer those who ask many questions elsewhere (*that should properly be addressed to you).
Hopefully won't add much to your workload.
bB interesting to see how many REALLY want those questions answered. ;-)

Michael,
Based upon your comments, I am glad I placed an order for a Mark II to compliment my 1Ds. However, mine is due to arrive in Mid-April. Based upon your comments, maybe I am better off moving to the back of the line (so that production issues can be improved). Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Thanks, Michael...also from Italy!
One shoot of Toronto skyscrapers in front of your office (like the review of 1Ds) is possible to see.?.?.?
Thank for your job...
