Title: Lens Cleaning
Post by: chex on September 19, 2009, 10:25:54 am
I have a Nikon 35-70mm 2.8 with a cloudy internal element - any ideas how much it'd cost to get cleaned?

Just wondering if it'd make more sense to buy another lens (they go for about £200 used).

It depends on where in the world you are (something tells me UK) and the cause of the cloudiness. If it is fungus, then allow £80+ to clean assuming an independent UK camera repairer. If the fungus has etched the lens element, add in the cost of a replacement element. If it is condensation, then get it cleaned before fungus takes hold.
