Just looking for a few options on camera straps
I've seen this one
OP TECH PRO & PRO LOOP STRAP (http://www.optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=23)
Wondered if it was actually any good, or if there are better on the market.
Heaviest I carry is my Canon EOS1D MKII + 300mm f4L
Thanks

I use OP/Tech USA Pro Loop straps with my Canons 1 bodies. They held up much better than I initially thought. Very comfortable although they'll make your neck sweat when weather is hot. The Up-strap is also well regarded (http://www.upstrap-pro.com/) (http://www.upstrap-pro.com/)) but a different design (vs the Op/Tech).

I went from Optech to Upstrap because the Optechs kept slipping off my shoulders at inconvenient moments and Upstraps hang on like crazy. Optech is more comfortable, though, when worn around your neck.
Upstrap has a list of countries to which they will ship and the UK is one of them.

Paul,
I agree with you. Around the neck, the Op/Tech is more comfortable. The Upstrap is a much better choice if the camera is carried on the shoulder. Different styles - different straps!

After buying a couple 'fancy' straps with 'fancy' clasps that seemed to have a habit of flying open somehow when I'm just walking around, I've gone back to an old strap from 25 years ago with simple metal clasps that never seem to give me the kind of ugly surprises the 'fancy' straps gave me ...

I've never quite understood the strap thing. I've put straps on several cameras over the years, and almost immediately removed them each time because they were more hindrance than help. Twice I managed to snag a doorknob or similar obstruction with the strap while holding a camera, and both times the camera was instantly jerked out of my hands and onto the floor. No damage, but still...
I shoot about 90% of the time on a tripod, so a camera strap becomes just one more thing to sway in the breeze.
Perhaps straps are useful only to photographers who aren't clumsy oafs.

...and those of us who occasionally are shooting handheld while hanging over the edges of cliffs or bridges, out of helicopters, etc.
And I thought things like the Upstrap were also intended for the camera bags themselves, if you're carrying them on your shoulder.

Or if you have more cameras than hands

Upstrap makes a special strap just for camera or other equipment bags, but all the rest are for cameras themselves.

Paul, is this the strap you use now
UpStrap (http://upstrap-pro.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=QR)

Another vote for Upstrap. I've been using them on cameras and bags for three years and they perform better than described on the Upstrap web site. Well worth the price in my opinion.

Yes, I got the SLR-Quick Release-QR strap.
