Title: Kodak 14c and 14n

I published a mini-review (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/Kodak%20ProSLR-mini-review.shtml) of the new Pro/N over a month ago, when it first came out.

I'll have a more in-depth look at the Pro/C when it becomes available.

[font color=\'#000000\']These cameras remain highly controversial.  The problem, I think, is that first impressions can be misleading, particularly to anyone unfamiliar with the Kodak raw workflow.

The best review is to speak with someone who has used the camera for some time - someone perhaps like Charlotte Lowrie who has used (and reviewed) all the Kodak 14 series cameras.  Her website and galleries are at

I have had the 14n since July 2003, now upgraded to the new sensor (14nx, and therefore in all material respects identical to the SLR/n).  In many respects, it is the best camera I have owned, and I have owned a few, but there are some issues.  How serious or relevant they are is a matter for you and the type of photography you do.

The 14c is the camera I have been waiting for. I love the Canon "L" lenses and, combined with the price of the Kodak, this may be the combination for me.

However, I want to see some serious and up to date testing both of the 14c and the 14n.

The test of the 14n on this site is now way out of date. The camera was compared, in its infancy, with the 1ds and the results were bad - to put it mildly!

Any chance of an up to date test of the 14n and a test of the 14c as soon as possible - both with the most up to date firmware/software?

Michael,

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of your mini-review.

Still a bit on the scary side for me! Though nothing as bad as the side-by-side closeup shots of the crane from last year's review, which was dire!

I guess that the ultimate test for me will be shots taken using the same Canon lens on both the 14c and the 1Ds. That will really decide whether there is $3,000 in the difference.

[font color=\'#000000\']This is a real problem for the budget conscious. I'll continue to use the shift mechanism of Canon's tilt & shift lenses with my D60, for stitching purposes, to get my high resolution images, until someone comes out with an affordable, problem free full frame DSLR.[/font]
