Title: Any way to lock down 5D2 mode knob?
Post by: NickJB on May 03, 2009, 08:01:23 pm
Does anyone know of a way to lock down the mode knob (manual exposure/aperture priority/shutter priority etc) on the Canon 5D MkII? Just used it on busy a stock shoot and it was constantly getting moved. I'm thinking I may have to tape it down with some gaffers tape, but that's not really very satisfactory (I keep in in Aperture Priority or Manual 99% of the time)...

Thanks!

Sorry, but it's going to be gaffer's tape. My 30D and 40D have been taped since I bought them.

It's not a new problem -- my old film Canon A2 bodies needed the same treatment. I fold over the end about 1/2 cm so I can switch between M and Av mode.

I use the RRS L plate on mine and plan to attach (TIG weld or screw) a piece of aluminum flatstock to the top of the bracket which will cover the dial so it can only be turned by sticking a fingertip under the edge of the plate. That roulette wheel drives me nuts. It would be great if RRS would offer this as an option for thier L plates, thier sales would probably increase significantly.
