I did this with the Zeiss 50 f2 ZF and a D3. The picture is on my zenfolio gallery and I set the permissions to allow download of original. Right click on this image and download the original. it is close to 6 mb.

Nice job. I'm wondering if you had a printer that would take roll paper and you could print this at approx. 6 ft x 1 ft, what that would cost? Viewed on my screen I have to get really close because of the perspective, or display at 100 percent and scroll.

Unfortunately, my printer ( Epson 4000 ) only prints up to 40" unless I get rip software which is very expensive. At 40" wide, the print is not very tall.

Is the zeiss any better than the nikon 50mm f1.8?
I have yet to see any side by side tests of these expensive zeiss lenses with their nikon equivalents in mf or af versions.

I tried three copies of the Zeiss 50 and sent them all back. Great color and contrast but not sharp - at least not as sharp as my Canon 50 1.4.

Which Zeiss 50? The op used a 50 mm f/2.0 lens and I presume this was the Zeiss ZF Makro-Planar 50 mm f/2.0. PhotoZone.de (http://photozone.de/nikon--nikkor-aps-c-lens-tests/259-zeiss-zf-makro-planar-t-50mm-f2-review--test-report?start=2) tested this lens and gave it rave reviews. The Zeiss 50 f/1.4 received a less enthusiastic review.

Yes. This is the 50 f2 ZF. The 1.4 is only good for a paper weight. The f2 is in a league of it's own and rarely have I seen a lens perform as well as this one.

I only tried the Zeiss 1.4 on my Canon 5DII. I would have tried the Macro but it meant getting an adapter. It is really good to hear from someone who uses the macro that they are happy with it.... I have been searching for a good 50 for a long time.
