That depends heavily on what you intend to shoot. Would you use the wide-angle or telephoto more? Both lenses are excellent, you need to decide which one fits your shooting style best.

I own a 10D and an EF50mm 1.8 lens. Can afford to buy only 1 lens and can't decide which to get first.  a 17-40L f4 or a 70-200L f4.
