The P2000 is simply a hard drive with a built-in screen and card reader.
You can't attach one hard drive to another hard drive without a computer inbetween them.

I have read some on but not got around to buying this unit as of yet. The item is called a "USB Bridge" Delkin makes such a unit and there are a couple others now on the market. Basically it is a coupler to attach two USB devices such as a flash card reader or two USB HD's together without a computer.

I have the same scenario where I have a Portable HD and the P2000 that I wanted to tagged together. I think because of the Operating system on the P2000 it won't find the folders.
At the very least with this unit I can download to the P2000 and then download to the portable HD using a flash card reader or direct camera link giving me the dual backup in the field.

Double back up scenarios in the field:
CF -> P2000.1
CF re-used in camera
P2000.1 -> P2000.2
The main advantage over
CF -> P2000.1
CF -> P2000.2
being that you can delay the back-up process until the evening for instance.
It is not a if-not-die kind of scenario, but it would be convenient to be able to do these things.

Can one download their images from the Epson p-2000 directly to a portable hard drive, Smartdisk(100g) or Lacie, and not carry a portable G4 in the field?
If this is possible it would greatly decrease the equiptment necessary to carry in the field, no computer. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to be able to take less equiptment/ computers on the road and into the outback. I will just need to take less lenses I guess. thanks again.

You'd still have no way to select which files/folders to copy where. It's also USB 1.1, which means it is SLOOOOOOW. I really don't see the point.
