Title: USB Drives
Post by: DarkPenguin on March 23, 2009, 05:06:10 pm
I have 6.

2 completely failed this weekend.  1 is running poorly enough that it is going to be retired.  The other 3 are fine.

Just an FYI to check your drives on occasion.

What is "running poorly?"  I'm overdue a failure so it would be good to know.  My Firewire disc is clicking so that's being replaced but I'm concerned about others.

Thanks

Not always powering up.  Odd noises.  Etc.

I'm curious what make?  I've seen a large number of Seagate 7200.11 Series (includes Barracuda) Drives failing - apparently a firmware issue:

1 seagate.  1 Hitachi.  1 WD.  Equal opportunity HD failures.

Same enclosure?

2 different styles.  I'm throwing the two of the same style out.
