Is there a quick fix (that I can do myself out on location with a Leatherman...) when the body say 'no lens' when my 50-110 zoom is attached and refuse to work?
It occasionally work for a couple of shots if i remove it and put it back on. This zoom has been behaving like this since new out of the box. I have tried to clean the contacts. My other lenses work ok.
By the way, I work in Uganda...(no dealerships of any sort as far as I can see...)
Thank you for any help.

Hi Andre,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Most likely I doubt there is much you can do if you have already tried cleaning the contacts if your other lenses work ok.
But do have another check though on the lens itself.
Best,
David

Thank you David.
By the way, do you know what is the best way of 'cleaning' contacts that have no visible corrosion (being brand new)? Is there any liquid/spray I could use? Normally I use one of these 'glass' brushes to clean corrosion.
And if I have to send it for service... is it only the factory who fix lenses? (someone at photokina told me that...)

I would suggest some kind of alcohol (pure! not whiskey!), or electrical contact cleaner.
Depending on the nature of the fault it could be fixed elsewhere.
Do you travel outside of Uganda?

Ok. Will try some very strong local brew...
I do travel. Mostly South Africa (Cape Town, Jo'burg), Dubai, US (NY), UK (London)...
Will probably bring it back where I bought it (NY) sometime soon.
Thank you!

Well the UK should be able to manage it and also NY.
Good luck!
