Ok, does any one know of  a side by side comparison of the files created by these two cameras?

What exactly did u want to know?

The differences between these cameras is more than just 'files'.

If you want numbers.. DXO can give you that in spades - if you want impressions and real world use.. well put it this way....

When the chips are down.. its the 1DS MK3 I reach for - my 5D MkI and Mk II sit in the bag.

Nuf said.

Ok, right now I have a 1ds mark III with a 1ds mark II as a backup (so far I have not needed it as my 1ds mark III takes a lickin and keeps on tickin) I am considering a 5D mark 111 to replace my 1ds mark II as a back up. Obviously there are mucho differences between the two cameras regarding the weather sealing ergonomics etc but what I am curious about (perhaps from a purely academic point of view) is the difference in file quality, a side by side comparison, same situation, same lighting, same lens. Has anyone done this?

If i have 5D MarkII then i ill do this test, i may ask one friend i saw he got a 5DII to do a test together with his 5D2 and my 1Ds3 using both ens under same conditions and check files to see, but i can tell that the colors and details in 1Ds3 are better, only 5D can be better with higher ISO, don't talk about video feature which is not available in 1Ds3.
