[font color=\'#000000\']Dear Micheal,

Your claim about the problem in respone time is right but some error on fact.

I also disappointed by my past two digicam that wait many seconds to be turn on (and in the past, with shutter lag that you have to aware of all the time.)  I got some Canon gears.  I have waited and waited until I finally give up on Canon to have some "cheaper" camera that does not take 3 seconds to turn on.  But instead I have to buy the cheap Nikon D70 instead.  I have demonstrated to my friends how it could be turned on and press the button with photos taken.  You cannot aware of turn on delay or shuttle delay.  (A bit may be the shuttle delay).

Hence, it may be minor but please do amend your statement - "I regard this as a major advance in the state of the art. One of the long-standing criticisms of digital cameras by many photographers has been their inability to be instantly available to take a shot when needed, unlike film cameras. With the 20D those days are now over."  It is not.  Just may be in the Canon world.  As you have said about love to see more competition.  It is just they are catching up.

Still, I agree with your overall judgement and it looks like they have produced such a good camera  (and lens).  Why can't they have that earlier?

... From an unwillingly-joined-Nikon camp guy :-(
