Dear Nico,

each Sinar distributor has got the information from Sinar about the availability of eXposure 6.1.1, with a login and password to download it from our ftp server, for a period of 48 hours and prior to public release on our webpage for all.

This to hand this software over to their customers and get the necessary training at it beforehand.

You should insist with your distributor and ask him to check his mailbox.

Best regards,
Thierry

eXposure 6.1.1 is available. OK.

But, when will eXposure be efficient for the prehistoric backs like 54H and 43H, as promised since more than two years ?

What is the future software development of the 54H (the biggest files in 16 shots) and the 43H (maybe the best for some types of work, like jewelery pictures)?

Downloaded the software and seemed to have run into a problem. I have an eVolution 75. I guess the first question is is the software able to work correctly with my camera? I get the preview but every time I open the detail view I get a hard crash out to the system. I am working on a Macbook pro Intel Core 2 Duo  2.33GHz with 3 GB of memory. Only program running is eXposure. Other than that it seems to work. But right now it is hard to tell until I can run through the whole program. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

6.1 has more than just the shading tool added. There is much more crash resistance from my experience, it has an EV slider, history, crop tool improvements, custom orientation widget, lots of little bug fixes and probably lots more. Why would you not want to download it?

Thanks Ben.

I wouldn't down load it because sometimes there's problems. (see Richard above)

I mostly use eXposure to make dngs and do further processing elsewhere so I'm pretty happy the way it is.

Ah, OK. I mostly shoot tethered, so I really need it. I think if you've got an eMotion back you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes, the "Read Me" says this exactly: AUX not supported with Hassi Gen Adapter. I have to ask about the "Ctrl" plug.

Dear Richard,

Yes, 6.1.1 does support the eVolution 75, and there is not such bug we are aware of or reported up to now. FYI: I have myself exactly the same MacbookPro Intel Core 2 Duo with 2.33 GHz, and haven't run into this since using it. It is therefore difficult to tell. Please send a "Crash Log" as well as a "computer profile" (System Profiler) saved as XML through your dealer, that is the only thing which will help to address it.

But please do a few things before, just to make sure:

- trash all the "eXposure" preferences
- make a re-install of eXposure

Best regards,
Thierry

Dear Mitchell,

If you are happy with the version 6.01, and if it does work for you, you don't HAVE TO use to new 6.1.1 version.

However, as said by Ben, there are many new features and as well a processing speed improvement, as well as some IQ improvements due to the processing algorithm.

Thierry

Thanks. I will try that. Just to be absolutely sure the preferences are what and where? I wouldn't want to go mucking around and create greater problems.

By the way, the whole program was rather "flaky" in the beginning in multiple areas but it seemed to settle down to the one area I wrote about. Another question: do the focus boxes allow for resizing? I.E.: can they be made larger? I photograph small products with fine detail and right now the focus windows are narrow vertical windows. Thanks for all your help.

Hi, Thierry!
Thank you very much! I did not know that the AUX could be used for using the LC Shutter. This not the standard way isn´t it?

I have a "75H to 4x5"-Adapter Plate", too. I will test that today. It seems Exposure reacts a bit sensitive towards system configurations (Computer) just like Capture Shop. We will see. The good thing is that the software should have a modern architecture that problems could get solved more easy than in CS.

Best regards

Nico

Actually, this is written in the "Read Me" file provided with eXposure: "Using the LC-Shutter with the Sinarback eVolution 75 H and the AUX socket of the Hasselblad

Dear Richard,

With "Focus Box" I believe you mean the "Navigator" window?
Anyway, yes, of course, you can resize any window of eXposure. First, one can have them in "Movable", "Floating" or "Transparent Mode".

By default, the windows are in a certain position, when opening eXposure the first time: from there one can go to the edge of each window, and resize them up to a certain limit, given by the monitor size and the layout (see screenshot).

Or one can drag them "out" of their actual position/framing (when "Movable" is selected ---> see screenshots for how to set: one can do it either by the Menu, or then by clicking the little "screen" icon on the top right side of the window, beside the "X" and over the "i" ): this will "liberate" the window (see screenshot), which can then be re-sized at will (see screenshot), or placed on a second monitor. To bring it back to its original frame (or anywhere else), simply drag it in the place you want: the space will "Open" and the window jumps then in place (see screenshot).

There are many other possibilities, one can bring any window in another "Set" of plugins", one can move full "Sets" of plugins (e.g. also the contact sheet) from the bottom to the right or left side, etc ... It is almost un-limited.

If you wish really to make use of all the possibilities, about windows position, re-sizing or ANY other feature, it would be good to read the "on-line help": all is described there.

Best regards,
Thierry

Sorry, forgot to answer this one:

the eXposure preferences are to be found in the "Home" folder, under "Library" ---> "Preferences" and then the file "Sinar eXposure layout_LastRun.ini "

Close first eXposure, Trash then this preference file, empty the trash and re-start eXposure,

Yes, Billy, there are many things I have found out this way, by trying: I should not suggest to others to read the Read Me or the on-line Help and at the same time saying that I hate to do this myself!

That's right, you can rate it this way, or by simply clicking in the image, at the different levels, to activate or de-activate.

But I am not sure if it is possible to visualize rated images from non-rated ones: I would have to check this (in the Help!).

Edited for Addendum: one can actually, visualize the rated images, by sorting them with the icon "Sort by Rating", either "Ascending" or Descending".

Best regards,
Thierry

Actually, I was talking about the "live Image" viewer. When the window opens up you get 3 little boxes on the left (vertical rectangles). I am not at my camera right now but I will do the recommended changes and thank you for those. I will say I am getting random hard crashes with and without the camera connected. As to "live image" I was not able to re-size the master window so that is why I asked about the "detail" windows in that view. My nomenclature is I am sure inadequate but hopefully you get the idea. Again Thanks.

Hi Thierry,

Can you think of a reason why I cannot move my contact sheet over to the left column like you have in your last picture in post #33? I can make it floating and make it snap into the right hand column along with the capture, process, export tabs etc, but I have tried many times without success to get the contact sheet to 'snap' into place on the left side. Is there something I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks,
Ben

hi Ben,

No, you are able to move it to the left, to the right or to the bottom: make it first floating, then drag it over the "zone" where you want it, by doing so and passing over a zone where it can be dropped, this zone becomes activated (greyed out = darker, see schreenshot). You let it then simply loose with the mouse, and it will "jump into this place (see screenshot): it is now located between "Browser" and "Metadata". You could put it the same way between any of the windows on the left side, here again between "Metadata" and "History" (see screenshot, or completely on the top, over "Browser" (see screenshot).

To note one very interesting new feature/plugin: the "History", at the bottom left, allowing to go back any time to any previous setting/change.

Best regards,
Thierry

Hi Thierry,

Yes, I know about this function - I have been customising the interface by snapping the windows around, but what I mean is that I can't seem to get the contact sheet to 'snap' into position on the left. i.e. no grey box appears when I drag the contact sheet window around and float it over the browser, metadata or history dockwidget... I know it can be done because I have seen your screen shots, but mine doesn't want to do it. I can snap the contact sheet underneath or anywhere on the right side, but just not on the left, and I thought there might be a trick I am missing.

In this case there is certainly something missing, but I can't imagine what. Did you try to trash the preferences, which sets the layout to "Default" first, and then trying from there?

Thierry - don't worry - trashing the prefs worked!  Thank you very much!

I trashed both Sinar eXposure layout_LastRun.ini  and  Sinar eXposure.sav

Now everything works properly.

Thanks again,
Ben

Hello Everyone,   I am a complete newbie to Sinar. Just got my Hy6/e75r this morning. ! (thanks Willem )  I have taken some shots and saved to CF card then connected by firewire reader to my Mac Pro 10.5.6 with exposure 6.1.1.  I can see files on contact sheet but cannot make them into DNG.

I must have made some basic mistake? Can anyone help please?  Cheers JOHN

there is a help button on your menu..which will give you instructions under "IMPORT"  - however do this..

1. create a folder which you want to store the file you wish to store and work on.
2. select files you wish to store and work on..
3. drag to the folder you made - you will see an impoirt tab spring up after you do this - if you click on the tab you will see the progress of loading per file
4. when import is complete you have downloaded your files from camera or Cf card reader
 - THEN you click on folder you have made to open all 'working files' in Contact sheet from there -
you can select and export as required.

you got a great deal from Willem ..
Good Luck and enjoy.

Pete

Thanks very much. I had already looked at the help and am still having trouble.I cannot get the import tab to appear. When I drag and drop I am just moving the ai files not creating DNGs.

Yes I did get a good deal ! Just have to learn how to deal with the software!

Cheers JOHN

The import tab will appear automatically as the import happens. The files will be converted to DNG as they are imported.

Hi John,

an easy task, to import, when one knows: simply drag the displayed files from the contact sheet to any folder of your choice in the browser. There is no import button. SImply select all you want to import, and drag them.

Best regards,
Thierry

Richard,

I have no back currently, to tether and to use the live video. Can't comment for the time being.

Best regards,
Thierry

Actually, I was talking about the "live Image" viewer. When the window opens up you get 3 little boxes on the left (vertical rectangles). I am not at my camera right now ...

Below is a section from the readme file that came with 6.1.1. Are these any of your issues?

•  When using the Sinar eXposure™ 6.1.1 software with Sinarback eVolution 75 H with Sinar p3 and sliding adapter, the LC shutter moves in front of the lens when sliding the ground glass into viewing position.

•  Using the LC-Shutter with the Sinarback eVolution 75 H and the AUX socket of the Hasselblad V Generic adapter plate 552.36.250 is currently not supported.

Sounds like they are still working on the LC shutter/eVolution75 combination.
Ben

No, I use a Sinar X with Copal Shutters and the CTRL socket of the Generic adapter, not the AUX. I tried that with the 4x5" adapter too. Currently the log fils are checked at SINAR Switzerland I think.

Can you explain how captures using Sinar eXposure require about a stop and a half more exposure than with Captureshop 5.6.2? I might be conservative on only one and a half stops.

Is there an eyedropper that is independent from the color picker? What is the sampling that the color picker is using? 3x3, 5x5, point?

This should not be!

Possible causes:

- not the same toning curve used ("Standard 3" in CS and "Linear" in eXposure, by default)
- may be the "Exposure Compensation" plugin is active in CS and not in the eXposure, or vice-versa, and set to a value
- may be the "Brightness/Contrast" plugin is active in CS and not in eXposure, or vice-versa, and set to a value

There is no "Info" picker currently, but the RGB values are continuously refreshed and indicated

It is 5x5

Downloaded the software and seemed to have run into a problem. I have an eVolution 75. I guess the first question is is the software able to work correctly with my camera? I get the preview but every time I open the detail view I get a hard crash out to the system. I am working on a Macbook pro Intel Core 2 Duo  2.33GHz with 3 GB of memory. Only program running is eXposure. Other than that it seems to work. But right now it is hard to tell until I can run through the whole program. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Hey Richard,

Not sure if this is related but i am using the same generation macbook (2.53 GHZ Intel Core Duo, 4gb ram) and i get a hard crash regularly as well when my camera is connected via Firewire with a firewire (400 to 800 ) adapter as the camera is firewire 400 and the macbook only has the new firewire 800 port ONLY now. I am using an emotion 75 back. I tried different brands of adapters and firewire cables etc to c what the problem is caused by.   It works fine with older macbooks. The computer crashes pretty much every second time i disconnect the fire wire and also during shooting.

Has anybody else encountered these problems with this setup at all ?

Florian

I use an eMotion 75LV with a new Macbook Pro and 6.1.1 hardly ever crashes. Maybe twice since 6.1.1 has been out. Then again I don't regularly disconnect and reconnect the camera. I use a Sonnet brand 800-400 adapter.
