Title: ICC profile folder in PSCS4
Post by: ericaro on January 14, 2009, 10:44:57 pm
I am on PSCS4 64/vista. I have placed a new printer ICC profile in the following usual pathway in Windows/system32/spool/drivers/color. I want to softproof in CS4 but I don't see the profile. In fact the list of profiles seen in the softproofing menu in CS4 is totally different than in the windows "color" folder. Is PSCS4 drawing the profiles from a different folder than CS3? Any help appreciated. Louis Bouillon

When you obtained the profile, to install it did you do this:

Windows Vista: Right-click on the ICC profile, and choose "Install Profile"

If you put it in Windows/system32/spool/drivers/color it should show up in Photoshop, although you need to restart Photoshop if you copied the profile over while Photoshop was running. There may be one additional folder under Common Files/ProgramData, but the ones in the main profiles directory as defined by Windows should definitely show up. One thing that can be a little confusing is that Photoshop displays the profiles based on the name embedded withing the ICC metadata, rather than the filename itself. Depending on the tool used to create the profile, this embedded name could be completely different from the filename.

Thanks everyone. Profile was mislabeled by maker.
