Title: Way to Run Ad-Hoc Lightroom Backups?
Post by: pwatkins on January 07, 2009, 12:53:21 am
Is it possible to run ad-hoc backups using Lightroom's backup function?

It seems the only possible way to run a Lightroom backup is to schedule it (once a week, daily, whatever).  I usually want to run backups at the *end* of a session, not the beginning.

I've thought that one workaround would be to "schedule" a backup each time LR starts, and just refuse the backups unless I want to run one.  At the end of a session, I would shut down LR and bring it back up again and when asked if I want a backup, say Yes.

Is there a better way?

Thanks,

Paul Watkins

No, apart from a file backup solution, I'm afraid.

Paul,
I'm not aware that you can change Lightroom's backup system with different schedules.
In addition to the built-in procedure I usually do backup my library with a "conventional" backup system like Restrospect, ChronoSync (on Macs) and some custom scripts to upload backups off-site.

Your work-around, if it works for you, is OK.
