I've ordered a new canon 5d mkII , my question is , can LR2.1 process new canon 5d mkII cr2 files? The reason I ask is that I have downloaded sample .cr2 files from the web, but LR2.1 says they are corrupted?
The reason I ask this is that on a few forum threads I see people saying they processed their files with lightroom!
Note the same downloaded files convert to DNG ok with adobe dng converter, so I know they are not corrupted.

Alan

Not yet. I understand a new version of LR is due out later this month. I think at present, you need to use the DNG converter before importing into LR.

Thanks, just as I suspected.... I think the folk that had posted info re: the 5dmkII CR2 files processed with LR, omitted processing the files 1st with DNG converter before importing to LR.

ACR 5.2 can process the 5DII files, so a LR update should be arriving very soon.
But nothing to stop you using CS4 Bridge/ACR to deal with the images for now. Faster than LR in many ways.
