Title: P65+ wake up - like old Phase or like Leaf?
Post by: narikin on December 03, 2008, 08:49:12 am
Does anyone know if the P65+ still needs the wake up cable for some purposes, like the P25-P45's do?
Now that it is a Dalsa sensor design, rather than Kodak, I wondered if it might be more like the Leaf-Dalsa sensors and instantly 'alert'.

On the specs it says it will not need to use the 2-shot method. It seems the prototype model I am using still requires it, but I am checking if if is a firmware thing that will change by the time it ships.
I am going to play around with it more this morning with the Cambo RS.
Will keep you updated.

thanks Lance, let us know what you find out, its a big plus if the whole wake up scenario is bypassed.

The shipping version with the release firmware of the P65+ will not require the wake-up procedure

good to know, thanks.
so I guess with an Alpa I can forget the wake up cable IF I upgrade to P65+ ($$!)

Lance,
Any chance that same firmware fix will work with the P45+ to get rid of the wake up cable?  That would be wonderful!

Lance can answer better than me - but it seems unlikely.

its not a 'firmware fix' - its the first proper release firmware for the P65+ which is a completely different (Dalsa) sensor compared to the (Kodak) P45/ P25 series sensors. Similar Dalsa sensors (e.g. on Leaf) never needed the wake up either, so this is one modest benefit of the switch of manufacturers, that I'm happy to hear confirmed. On the other hand, the P45's can do long exposures, which the Dalsa ones cant, so some you win, some you loose!

I have and use my P45+, and it remains an excellent product.

That is correct - this is specific to the P65+.
