Title: H3DII Underwater Housing
Post by: David Grover / Capture One on December 02, 2008, 11:27:30 am
Dear LL'ers,

I had the pleasure to meet with this company today during an event in Hungary...

www.ultimadigital.com

The images speak for themselves really but it is essentially a very nicely made underwater housing for the H3DII.

All functionality is possible via the buttons mounted on the casing.  Lens 'bubbles' available for the 28mm, 120 Macro and 80mm.

Manual focus knob also mounted on the outside.

If only I knew how to dive!  It has been tested down to 90m.

I don't have pricing to hand at this moment but if anybody is remotely interested then I can put you in touch with the developers.

I think I will have some sample images soon as well.

Best,

David

Pretty amazing and I bet with a hefty price tag. Being a scuba instructor & guide I have seen more than my share of floodings. It is not really whether you will have a flooding but more when you will have one.

The thought of having my H with back in it does give me shiverings. Nothing as destructive as salt water for electronics.

A friend of mine routinely dives to depths of 90meters to make stunning images (on trimix), I will pass this out to him. I was thinking about upgrading his D200, I am not sure a H3DII was what he had in mind

its a pity they didnt add the ability to shoot with a waist level finder. i have an old RZ housing thats really nice to use at water level looking down without getting you head in the water.

it looks nicely made though. they would sell a lot more if they made a phase/ hasselblad back version, they just need to move the buttons (i cant imagine seeing anything on a phase screen though).
