In all the Sinar cataloques they suggest there is one but my local rep says there isn't one can anyone let me know if they have one.
-
Dear Rick,
There is effectively a Sinar sliding adapter with Hy6 interface planed and in preparation currently. I can't give an ETA yet, but probably in January '09.
Best regards,
Thierry

Wow I'm just so surprised that it the case. I just would have thought it be a high priority. I mean Cambo have got one for their sliding back. Will the Arctec and p3 use the same plate?
-
Well Rick, many things have high-priority right now.
We have already sliding adapters for V, for H, for Contax 645 and for Mamiya 645. Next to come is the Hy6 interface. I don't know what you precisely mean with "Will the Arctec and p3 use the same plate", but a back with Hy6 adapter plate will fit the Sinar Hy6 MF body, the Sinar arTec camera, and the p3 sliding adapter.
Best regards,
Thierry

which is exactly why it should be you highest priority - to create a camera system rather than the huge pile of bits and bobs that is sinars current offering
Of course Rick if you have sinar back you could change the plate on the back of the back to a hassy or mamiya plate and then attach it to your sinar - I guess you have a Leaf - or find undoing a load of tiny easy to lose screws on location an unacceptable solution

hi Sam,

It is by definition so, that a complete camera system like the Sinar system is made of lots of different "bits". There are continuously "bits" to be developed and made. Concerning priorities, they are IMO made logically and according to what makes sense. But we have discussed this already many times.

Obviously and precisely! that's exactly one of the reason which has be considered: there is (are) a way(s) to make the system work, and the customer is not blocked
best regards,
Thierry

Rick I am checking if NEXOR (http://www.nexor.cn/v1/store.php?lang=en&brand=merginx&cat=merginx_01&p=merginx_0101) make an adapter for their sliding back that goes onto the P3. Hopefully I'll have an answer today.
They already have an AFi mount and in my experience the Mergin-X sliding back works very well. I have one with a universal Graflok fit and I use it on various 5X4 cameras.

Edit: As I understand it you are already being taken care of one of us will have an answer shortly

Will the Arctec and p3 use the same plate?
I believe the arTec has a fixed interface (not interchangeable) in its sliding back
due to tolerances not available in its engineering/design.

@Thierry. Sorry Thierry I wasn't well "complete" in the info I provided in my original post. What I'm after is an ability to interface with the Leaf Afi camera back on a P3 sliding back. Obviously if I had a Sinar back then I'd have options to change the mounting plate on the back to match those on the sliding back. The reason I wasn't "complete" weren't malicious but I was on set with camera and backs and a photographer wanting answers fast. Apologies for any grief caused.
@Sam. While I am frustrated to an extent I can hardly accuse Sinar of providing a system that isn't modular. Using again for the first time in maybe ten years the P system I'm amazed at how everything is still in the right places and it just works. Though my memory on certain things are failing but thats for another post.
@YAYA Indeed it looks like with the help of the guys at HK we might have a solution on its way. You guys have some valuable assets their in Garry and Fei and I look forward to working with them more in the future. What great timing it was to have Garry in town at just the right time.
Thanks for all your help. Congrats on getting LC11.2.0.2 out so quickly.
Cheers
