Hey guys I noticed a great looking remote cable in one of Mats Cordt's video's check out his great work at http://www.matscordt.com/ (http://www.matscordt.com/) and wondered if it was the holy grail that I've been searching for. It seems to be shooting long exposures. Big Props to anyone that can provide a link to it

What is shown on the skgrimes link and the picture you posted is the controller for Prontor Professional shutters, allowing you to operate the shutter from behind the camera. The long exposure device you want was also made by Prontor, and allowed timed exposures from 2 to 32 seconds. It is discontinued now. I have one, and it works wonderfully. I wish someone would make an electronic version.

Wow the late model looks cool but $400 usd are the early ones very accurate?

That has a T setting, and is the last version. I have the $300 version. It is accurate, but I think someone could build an electronic one for $100 max. The timing circuits are a couple of dollars. The hard part is building a power supply required to hold the shutter open for a long time. I would buy one for $150.

Yeah you would think that it just need some motivation a few electro magnets and a timing circuit. Hardest thing to get is the motivation.

Well, I have the motivation, and a friend who can help with the electronics, but we've been unable to source a power supply that's powerful enough to push the cable release AND hold it for the required time AND be small enough to carry on location.

a couple cr123 batteries in series can create a pretty strong electromagnet. So if you had two that when on attracted to each other and clamped together it might work. I guess it depends on whether the draw length would be outside the magnetic field.
