Title: using old school extension tubes on h3d
Post by: choen on November 01, 2008, 07:03:29 am
Hi all.

I've been using old C and CF lenses via the CF adapter on my H3D-22 (the HC lenses are too expensive to justify the costs).
Here's my question:
Is it possible to use C extension tubes between the CF lens and CF adapter on the H3D?

If you are wondering why I am asking this, well, for most of my close up work that doesnt require movement I've always used a Canon DSLR- but I'd like to consolidate my gear to medium format only- this is partly due to increasing complaints from some of my clients whenever I don't use the medium format to shoot close ups of their products. I simply can't do it with the old CF makro which allows only a 1:4 reproduction, in comparison to the smaller format system which brings me up close at 1:1.

Thanks.

Hi Choen,

From the CF adapter data sheet.  (Its in the instructions too)...

3. Use of Converters and Extension Tubes: Converters
and extension tubes are attached and removed in the
conventional manner. They should be attached to the
adapter first. When detaching, however, remove the
lens first and then the converter/extension tube. If
you remove the lens and converter/extension tube
together as a unit and then separate them, there is a
possibility that the shutter in the lens will be tripped.
Note: Only converters and extension tubes from the
V-system can be used.

Thanks David.
Now I'm going to order some used ones.
I've never used them before even when I was on the old square cameras. heh.

Will the bellows work with the CF adapter?
