The idea has merit, but you would need to test to see how closely the camera and a particular film stock match exposurewise. You may need to consistently add 1/2 stop of exposure over the Sony for one type of film stock, and no adjusatment for another, etc. But once you figure that out, it should be fairly consistent.

I know its a strange question, using a Sony 828 as a preview tool to determine exposure for motion picture film. I was toying with the idea of a Digital camera to preview and also to adjust the captured images in PS. Then I could send the pictures files to the lab, to show what I had in my mind's eye for exposure and color balance. I've seen other Cinematographers using Nikon D 100's. But as Michael has reviewed, the Sony has a great zoom range. Since Polaroid doesn't make films that have the same latitude as motion picture stocks, that isn't a big concern.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
