Hello
Can someone can recommend a great book from David Muench? What I particulary like is the way he plays with foreground / background.
Thanks for all

I have four: Our National Parks, Arizona, California and Primal Forces. The latter two were done with his son Marc. All are great but if I had to buy one, it would probably be Our National Parks. I think Arizona is his most recent work.
Generally, I have found Amazon to offer the best prices.
I hope this helps; I am a big fan of his work too.

I like Arizona a lot and Plateau Light as well. I don't own Our National Parks but from what I've seen, it's a beautiful book. I'm not so hot on Primal Forces…

I got Nature's America, Primal Forces and Plateau Light, and would advise to go for the latter, maybe also for the quality of reproduction.
I've also mixed feelings about Primal Forces : some very nice images but the layout is a tad on the kitsch side.

There's a lot I like in Primal Forces, but the double exposures are awful and way too gimmicky. Still, the straight images are spectacular.

I fully agree with your comment about double exposures. I believe, IIRC, that in the Arizona book, there's only a couple of double-exposed photos and they work quite well compared to the ones published in Primal Forces.

My favorite is still "Ancient America", which I think expresses the best the core of his vision.
Among more recent books, "Our National Parks" (which happens to use two of my images :-)).

If anyone is still interested in this topic, I just returned from the local Borders. In their bargain section, they have still-in-shrinkwrap copies of Muench's American Portfolios and Images in Stone for $4.99 each. I don't know if all stores will have it, but having worked at B & N for quite a few years earlier in my life, I bet many of them do. If you ask me, it's a pretty good buy. I just cracked open the first one, and am about to become lost in it!
