Title: 5D mk II video handling

First off I just want to say that I was really hoping the 5D mk II sample video would be of MR, Chris Sanderson and Jeff Schewe running around to the Benny Hill tune.  I feel that is a comedy niche that isn't being served anymore.

It looks like hand holding the 5DmkII in video mode is something of an adventure.  Is that correct?  Are there any obvious add ons to be expected to make that a little easier?  (An articulated LCD would help but obviously that isn't going to happen.)  Or is it best to consider it more usable on a tripod?

For a cheap, hand-held, and stupid-looking solution, I was thinking of attaching the camera to a monopod, attaching some weights at the bottom of the monopod, and control the camera by gripping the pod with the right hand, and of course, focusing/controlling aperture with left hand.  This is similar to what people did to make their own homemade steadicams to use with small camcorders.

I do have a real steadicam (the ones for small camcorders) that I think should work perfectly with a DSLR and any lens that doesn't stick out too much.

Some of the kit linked above looks nicely designed and should make the camera far more usuable for video work.


I too would like to see Dark Penguin's suggestion regarding the video demo, sounds most entertaining.
