Now that there are some really good SSDs out, have anybody had experience with using LR(2) on an SSD? I imagine especially the catalog access can benefit from SSD, but is it enough to be noticable? Significant?

I have an SSD (OCZ 128GB) on my system; I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if it makes any difference. Somehow I doubt it as my C: drive is a 300GB VelociRaptor.

It will vary GREATLY on the drives. www.anandtech.com has quite a few benchmarks to study.

I've seen the benchmarks, and only Intels and OCXs are faster overall. However, even early SSDs were significantly faster in searching (4-5 times speed increase on realistic Lucene searches), so I am curious about how LRs access pattern works with it. My guess is having the catalog on an SSD is going to be nicer, but having the pictures there will make little difference unless it's one of the two mentioned above.
