Title: 7800 vs. 9880 ink cartridge
Post by: richard armstrong on August 15, 2008, 09:14:01 pm
is it possible to use a 7800 cartridge in a 9880? it looks like the new 9880 cartridge will fit a 7800  and a 9880. the old 7800 cartridge does not appear to fit the 9880. i saved my ink set from the 7800.....thinking they would fit the 9880.

Unfortunately  you can't.  Been there tried that.
The ink is the same on all but the Vivid Magenta and vivid Light magenta but the older 7800 carts are chipped wrong for the newer 9880 and 7880.

As I also recall, you can't fit the 7800 cart into the 9880 as there is a ridge.

If you get it in there, the printer will error out and state you have interested a non Epson cartridge.

If it's still under the expiration date, you might try Epson directly and see if they will swap it.
