Title: ABW = Advanced B&W?

Is there any good info or advice out there on using the Advanced B&W option for the Epson drivers?  In order to use that, you must tell your program (Lightroom) to let the printer manage the color.....right?  I've been following what most of the advice seems to be which is DON'T LET THE PRINTER MANAGER COLOR.

So....is the advanced B&W buy you anything?  Worth using?  Or better if you just let LR handle the toning?

Epson's advanced black & white mode requires you to let the driver take over "color management", so it can blend some small amounts of colored ink with the three blacks to give a neutral print. This means you have to use one of Epson's papers, or a third party paper that is similar enough. It also lets you do some toning, though the preview is not really accurately color managed so it's a bit of a crapshoot. On the bright side, ABW does provide better D-max and neutrality than printing an RGB image through a profile.

Advanced B&W is pretty good for a quicky neutral print.
For much better contol and extendedtonal possibilities use Roy Harrington's Quad tone RIP. A bargain at $50 US
