Title: Canon 1Ds Raw (native TIF) or copy to DNG Import?
Post by: Murray Fredericks on April 04, 2008, 07:18:09 am
Hi All,

I was wondering if it's better to convert Canon 1Ds files to DNG and import into Lightroom or just keep in the native Canon Raw and import?

Obviously the DNG's are better long term but is there any image quality difference?

Cheers

Murray

There is no difference at all, as long as you stick to ACR (which is the same in Lightroom and PS).

The file size in DNG is smaller by about 20% or so, but with today's storage prices, that's not a big deal. Otherwise I don't see any obvious reason, nor not obvious ones.
