Title: Seeking advise on RRS RB-40 lubrification
Post by: BernardLanguillier on March 31, 2008, 10:37:39 am
Dear all,

My BH40 has been through a lot, and it is not as smooth as it used to be.

I was wondering whether there was any preferred way of cleaning the ball and/or lubricating it so as to recover some of the loss feel of the head?

Thank you in advance,

Cheers,
Bernard

Bernard,
I would contact RRS directly. But from the BH-40 user guide ([a href=\"http://reallyrightstuff.com/Downloads/BH-40.pdf]here[/url]):

If you choose to lubricate the ball, please first apply light machine oil or WD-40 onto a rag. Drop the ball stem into a drop notch to expose the maximum surface area of the ball and then wipe the lubricant onto the ball while rotating the ball. Work the ball about while alternately tightening and loosening the Main Lock Knob. Now wipe off any excess lubricant to avoid attracting contamination.
