Once again the brilliance of the HP website is just stunning
I bought the APS, as noted in other threads the cd points you to a website that doesn't exist.
Has anyone recently downloaded APS, if so could you provide the link? The link posted last summer no longer works, as hpcolorsupport.com is gone or down.
While HP support has be great at fixing problems, the inability of the company to get the simple things right is discouraging. I just wasted another hour on another wild goose chase.

Hi Michael-
As I said in the OP, I bought the APS, but I can't find a site to download the software, since the package doesn't actually include the software, just a broken link to download it.

William,
Contact HP Tech Support. I had a similar issue with my APS and they sent me a revised link.

Once again.... if HP Spain or US is truly reading these forums.....
Your engineering brilliance is being thwarted by your company's inability to execute simple things.
William, if HP support does provide a new website let me know and I'll post the new URL on the z3100 wiki. Trying to find anything about the z3100 on the HP websites is akin to winning the lottery.
HP, fix your dang websites while you're at it. Your customers are tired of them. Post links here to your tech docs and I'll post them on the wiki where we can easily find them.
-
So, you can't actually download the software anywhere- unbelievable. I've been on the phone with both hp and xrite support, and all they can do is refer me to websites that don't exist.
Would anyone be able to email me the mac version of the software?
Thanks, Bill

Bill, I can't speak for Mac APS but on the Windoze side there is no single executable program to share. The initial installation creates folders and such and then you apply updates through the APS program itself.
-
Yes, I understand. For the mac, there is a .dmg file (disk file) that contains the installer. For windows, there is an .exe, which again is the installer, not the program itself.

Hi,
The Mac APS works it's magic over the internet including Validation/Registration and Updates.
It's been a while since I installed, but first you need to install from the CD, and then you need to validate over the internet. Pretty sure I had an install CD with a serial number of some sort. You must have the hardware plugged in the USB port for the software to work. Install it even if it's an old version and after installed and registered it will update to the latest version.
Anyone know when they will have an upgrade for Leopard?
Thanks, and so long for now, TOM
-
Maybe for the version you bought- did your APS come with the printer, or did you buy it separately?
I bought mine separately, and it definately did not come with the software on the CD, only a link to a website that is now defunct. And yes the cd has a serial #.

Yep, the most valuable aspect of the CD is the license key.
I'm surprised though that HP support hasn't been more helpful.

Call HP Tech support. They had some problems with the CD KEYS.It took HP support 3 days to get me a key for the CD.They were blaming Xrite and Gretag for the problem. But HP solved the problem with a new key.
That was a Windows CD key at the time. Now run under Windows XP Pro with bootcamp.

Hi Peteh
That link just goes to another link to hpcolorsupport.com, a dead site. Were you able to get it to actually work?
Thanks,
Bill

That's a good link on my machine. I'll place it on the wiki tonight.
-
Am I going crazy?
Did you guys actually try that link? All the way to where you're able to download the software? The giainteractive site (an Xrite site) works, but what you find there are other links to the PC and Mac versions, links that go to the hpcolorsupport.com site, which as I have been saying, is not operative.
Has anyone actually started to download the software, or are you just getting to the giainteractive.com site?
Bill

My apologies, Bill. You are correct.
Firefox can't find the server at www.hpcolorsupport.com
I even tried MS Internet Exploder just in case it had proprietary MS stuff.
-
Well, I'm glad I'm not crazy (yet!). ;^)
HP sent me a link to download APS; I imagine they will get the link up soon.

Just went to the giainteractive.com site. It downloads both the Windows and the Mac app for me.
