Title: easy printer care
Post by: pulley on February 05, 2008, 04:55:30 pm
My Z2100 will not communicate with Easy Printer Care or Color Center. Was working and now it's not. Turned off firewall...still not communicating! Un-installed driver / software and re-installed, shut down printer and started.........still nothing! Any ideas or suggestions?

I'm assuming you're connected via ethernet?  Have you tried USB just to see if the printer can communicate over that?

Have you used the diagnostic menus?  What does the IP address look like in the printer?

Hmmmmm.... that's unusual if the cable is under 15'.

Any luck with the maintenance menus?

Any updates or upgrades involved? My printer/driver link crashed the last time I updated to a newer driver version. Turns out you really, really need to completely remove the previous version before upgrading, unless you enjoy spending some quality time with tech support getting it untangled again.

Originally when I tried to use the un-install option, it would not un-install, so I removed the driver tru the control panel. Then I re-installed with disk.

By Color Center do you mean the Color Center tab in the HP Printer Utility?

What firmware/driver levels are you running?

Hmmmm.... I have the base Z3100.

My firmware is TR12 6.0.0.8

Driver is 61.71.361.42

My machine is a Windoze machine.

When I installed the latest firmware and drivers HP Color Center as an app was deleted.  The HP Printer Utility is new to this firmware and driver.

Its starting to seem like you've got a mismatch on your computer and back level firmware on your printer.

Would you recommend I remove HP drivers/software and download latest drivers and firmware from HP website? Sorry for my lack of technical knowledge?

Yes, if you've got the base Z3100.  I'm not familiar with the GPS version so if that's what you've got I'd wait for someone else's recommendation.

Well, after un-installing and re-installing driver from disk and then upgrading driver/firmware from Hp website, I have everything working as it should.

Thanks Ron for all your help and patience.
