Not sure if this is old hat for you pros but I just went through the process of replacing the scratched up back of the LCD on my 30D in ten minutes. No sweat.
1) Order parts from Canon
2) Use a suction cup to suction out the LCD protector
3) Take out the old two-sided tape, replace it
4) Press in the new LCD protector.
Easy as pie. No need for a tech to do it.

No warranties, but it should be as simple for you as it was for me.
