Title: Epson 7880 special offer
Post by: free1000 on January 09, 2008, 08:52:48 am
Saw that in the UK ICG are offering the Epson 7880 for a remarkable £1550 excluding VAT.

The offer is until the end of January, makes me wonder if Epson are about to upgrade it at PMA... they usually do that the week after I buy a printer...

I'm curious too as I'm looking for a new printer.   I'm close to pulling the trigger on the Epson 3800 model but suspect that this will be upgraded to include the new Vivid Magenta inks.

...and here is where I could use help.  On average, how long after products are announced at the PMA before they become available to purchase?  I can wait until February before I replace my printer but would be disappointed if new products didn't hit the market until Summertime.

This is not the first hint in this direction.
The fearures if the 11880 will be included in a future range of smaller printers, and I think sooner rather than later. The 9880 etc always looked like a stop-gap to unsettle Canon and HP buyers.
I have a feeling there is something else in the wind too. If Jeff knows , he , of course,is not letting on. Gun that Harley, Jeff.
Even the 11880 is not the ultimate. There are still heaps of hassles we have to put up with with all printers now available, plenty of scope for improvement. The current competition will drive a lot of hidden development into the open.
You can help buy buying a current printer and I'm sure Murphy will swing into action.
Cheers,
Brian
