Title: Resetting Canon iPF Printer Maintenance Cartridge
Post by: John Hollenberg on January 07, 2008, 10:31:36 pm
An enterprising Wiki member has discovered a way to reset the maintenance cartridge on his iPF6100 to read empty after it reaches "full":

http://canonipf.wikispaces.com/Reset+Maintenance+Tank (http://canonipf.wikispaces.com/Reset+Maintenance+Tank)

Of course, use at your own risk.

Excellent!  Been waiting for this.  Any idea if it works for the 5000/8000/9000?

We expect so, because the same settings are apparently there in service mode.

This is the second time through this process and I can not get a straight answer from anyone. Has anyone actually reset the maintenance tank on an IPF8000?

There is no Feeder Selection button on the IPF8000. What button do you use instead?

How is this actually done on the IPF8000because I tried the menu, information and power buttons and dont get the service mode.  Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am trying to accomplish this.
If one inserts a new maintenance cartridge and then put the old cleaned one back in then it resets to 100%, but after that one print it resets itself back to 0%.  Any Help?
Thanks to anyone.

Hallo!
You have do to this b e f o r e the cartridge has gone under 20 percent. If the machine already shows "m. cartridge full, change cartridge" there is no chance to get into the service menu and resetting the chip.

Thanks alot for the tips.  I really appreciate this.  I then will have to use a new cartridge and try this at another time.
All the best.  Bitteshoene.

Thank you John.  I confirmed this morning that it works with both Canon IPF8000 and IPF9000.

Hello all, On the Canon IPF6300 this reset works great as long as you don't let the maintenance cartridge got lower than 20%, and will still work if it reads 20%. Not to toot my own horn but I reported way back how to get into the Canon IPF6300 to Service mode.

Now I am glad as I just reset my maintenance cartridge just when it got to 20%.

Right now I removed the top screws and this tray/maintenance cartridge is easy to clean and resuse.

Thanks
Christopher
