I'm trying to bring an a layered file for identity plate because the background is transparant, but LIghttoom wont do it, message says "layered file was not save with.." cuts off.
-
Check out this video tutorial for details, I think it has to be a PNG or something (can't remember now) Wayne

thanks Sniper.
the tutorial does not discuss why I'm having this issue and getting this error message.
-
Probably says layered file was not saved with Maximise Compatibility switched on, or something similar. MC creates a flattened version of the file as a preview, and Lightroom uses this..
Still, you'd be better off using save for web and exporting a PNG24 file for the ID plate anyhow.

Sean:
the minute you flatten in any way (save for web), then the tranparent background is gone and all I see is a white background. so I'm back to where I began

You need to use a PNG file for transparency.
In the Save for Web dialog box select PNG-24 as the file format.
Make sure the Transparency box is checked.
In the Color Table, click the white swatch (or use the eyedropper tool and click in the image).
With the white swatch selected, click the Transparent button at the bottom of the Color Table (the gray checkered button at the left.)
The selected colors(s) will now be transparent.

thanks Nat,
I think I got it just by 'finding' where to select the PNG. appreciate it.
