Title: Canon 24-105 zoom ring

Hi,

After reading the comments on this lens I retired my old 28-135 and bought the 24-105. Can anyone tell me why the zoom ring is so small and the focus ring the predominant ring in size and placement??  With auto focus being the norm, in day to day use and the zoom ring in constant use it seems bassackwards...  Is there some reason for this?
