Title: ACR Calibration Discrepancy in C2P
Post by: Nat Coalson on December 18, 2007, 05:37:25 pm
I apologize if this has been addressed before; I searched a few different ways and didn't find what I was looking for in the LL forums.

In the Camera to Print video, in the section about using Tom Fors' ACR Calibrator, the sequence that Michael uses to place the pen tool points is not the same as in Fors' instructions.

In the C2P video, Michael does this order:
1. Dark Skin
2. Black
3. White
4. Bluish green

The instruction on Fors' site specifically recommend this order:
1. Dark Skin
2. White
3. Black
4. Bluish Green

In both instances, the instructions state very clearly that you have to use that specific order.

So my questions are:
1. Why the discrepancy?
2. Which is correct?
3. How could the discrepancy possibly exist, as they would seem to produce dramatically different results, especially with regard to black color bias?

I've been using this script successfully for several years and have always been very pleased with the results. Is it possible that my calibration settings are actually wrong and need to be redone?

Or does it actually not matter in what order the white and black patches are selected?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that, too. So I ran the Fors script both ways and got the same results.

Go figger....

Acually, If you did a search through earlier posts, you'll see that Michael has already answered this. I believe he said to use the script as described by Mr. Fors.

KeithR-
Thanks; like I said I searched but didn't find it and I have an admittedly short patience for digging through the search results on forums. But thanks for clarifying.
