Title: opening tiff files in photoshop
Post by: eric101 on December 08, 2007, 12:17:36 pm
I usually roundtrip my files from LR to PS for final tweaking.

Sometimes later, I will want to re-open the tiff in PS -- from within the LR interface -- but I want to have access to any layers I created earlier. I don't see that option in LR. So I open the file via PS, which is a pain.

Does this option not exist, or am I missing something blindingly obvious here?

As long as you've not done ant additional tone/color adjustments to the tiff AFTER you've opened it and saved it from Photoshop then simply select the Edit in Photoshop command on the tiff image and when prompted, choose the Edit Original option in the open dialog. If you had layers and channels and such when you saved the file in Photoshop, those layers and additional attributes will be there in the file when you open is again.

Thanks. I was confused by the wording on the pop-up under Edit Original: "Lightroom adjustments will not be visible."

I took that to mean I would be opening a file that wouldn't have any of development settings I had done in lightroom.

I guess it means something else.
