Will sinar exposure have a facility for exporting web contact sheets (or 1000px jpg previews)
(with a look applied)
I recently had to do a html export that meant exporting 500 files and downsizing them
This would have taken 10 mins on eyelike software instead of overnight

Sorry Sam, missed this one.
Yes, it is planed to have the export of HTML pages in Exposure.
Best regards,
Thierry

Thierry,
I'd like to know more about the features of eXposure,
how it'll improve upon CaptureShop,
and how it will compare against Phase One's Capture One software.

and what spec computer will it actually run stable-y on
I think I need a new layy but wont bother if it wont work
(like it doesnt on my 2ghz 1gbram 10.4 jobby)

hi Billy,
I have actually already published the key features of Sinar Exposure, in one of the tread and to answer the same question. However, I can't locate it at the moment, so I post it here again.
I am not an expert in Capture One and won't allow myself to make any comparison, sorry.
Best regards,
Thierry

Thierry,
Please show some screenshots.
When will the software be available?

The spec sheet mentions nothing of exporting jpgs or a contact sheet
Anyone who ahs done a 10gb+ shoot and want to create a contact sheet for a client will understand the criticality of that facility
I know you have said it will be there but it is an apparent contradiction
Anyway interesting to see a windoze version - can get off overpirced macs (duck for abuse:))
I would re iterate that beingable to input values like colour temp with actually inputting numbers rather than scrolling/sliding is essential for speed and accuracy IMO

I have seen the first presentation of eXposure at the Photokina in september 2006 !
A beta version of is actually running, but unable to exporting some formats (???). The export possibilities are not active on this ß.
The desktop is totally new. Quite different of CS.
I will be really happy when eXposure will make his official apparition. And I will not be alone...
But the most important question is : WHEN ?

Billy,
here some screenshots of the SW interface, using some old images taken with an eMotion 22 some 2 years ago.
Please take it as it is, a quick overview of some of the features available: some other features might change or might be added from this current beta version. Contact Sheet and JPGs export is not included in this current version.
As said in earlier posts, we expect to release Exposure in January 2008, if all is going well with the current beta-tests. But release dates are difficult to predict with SWs, as you might now.
This is about all I am allowed to show and say at the moment about Exposure.
Thanks and best regards,
Thierry

Well which is it ? - no. yes, or is it a 'sometime in the future' - maybe- 2010 ?
Dont your development guys have any concept at how photographers and clients interface and the huge memory/time/effort requirements of saving out and batching down 100s of tiffs
Mr Brumbaer made me an alpha contact sheet useable system in 48 hours (but it doesnt show the paramters/curves and therefore has client unacceptable colour - but that was in 48 hours at no charge)
I dont want to be on your back (again) but without this surely everyone one will just go to DNG and use some other software
This leaves us still stuffed for shooting tethered AND being able to do contact sheets
in business its all about pleasing the clients and tethered and contact sheets are the best way of them seeing what they are paying for

Yes, Sam, they know this.
I will not give any further details, as said. I am not allowed. Please just give me a break and take what I am providing. I do my best, like everybody at Sinar. Contact Sheet and JPG Export will be there, and I don't think it will be in 2010. That should not be such a time-consuming feature to include, as you mention with Stefan, and my guess is that it is already ready as a plug-in, but not activated.
Thanks and best regards,
Thierry

I am giving you/them an oppourtunity to publicise your great new bit of kit.
BUT
If I were sitting on a fence now with a few grand to drop on a back a simple workflow would push me over the other side
Frankly the eyelike software did everything needed - my workflow has gone backwards - into a world of pain were a client wants a contact sheet
it seems like they scrapped/broke something that didnt need fixing - BEFORE coming up with a useful replacement
that eyelike software doesnt work with the 54lv I take it?
I had a huge row with my biggest client last week - I just couldnt process a decent choice for them out fast enough to meet hier dealine which was 1800hours off a 1500 hours shoot
I thank my lucky stars for mr Brumbaer

Sam,
please don't draw conclusions on screenshots and wait the first release: I have been asked to provide some and I did. It is meant to show the interface look and some displayed features.
In fact, many (or some) features of the Eyelike SW have been included.
Why do you assume that it does not work with the eMotion 54 LV?! Of course it DOES, like with ANY existing Sinarback except FO interface and like with previous Eyelike backs.

Best regards,
Thierry

I meant that I cant use the old eyelike software with the 54LV
if I can could you explain how this is done please ??
If I could use the old software I will happlily look forward to the new relaese and not be concerned about its delivery date
currenly I am in a hole between the two 'useable' softwares
and that hole costs time and money

and lightroom reads STI files since when ?
===============================================
the workflow of the contact sheet to me is this..
unload camera
view images in raw converter of choice
paste a basic look to all all images delete duffers maybe
create contact sheet
--
it is important that that 'basic look' is kept attached to those raws - so basically only ones converter of choice is any good for the whole process
my converter of choice was 'eyelike' this created contact sheets
I then upgraded to the 54LV - captureshop is too slow/unstable for my laptop so I used a brubaer workflow
get STIs convert to DNG
I could then browse these DNGs in bridge (or lightroom?) and create a contact sheet
personally I dont get on with the ACR/bridge (im on CS2)
and creating a contact sheet is still a massive process for 500 odd images (a days shooting) it has to open/close the ACR windo 500times
my prefered raw processor is Silkypix (no contact sheet AKAIK) and when you fiddle in SKP those settings are not carried into bridge/ACR
I have also tried browsing my dngs in C1beta but that was taking 270 per images to pull out a tiff do I gave up on that
SO that last big contact sheet session I used silky and pulled out 1000 10mbjpgs and then downsized them this took my computer all weekend
Comparing this pain to the eyelike html export which workied in about 30s for 100 images it seems crazy
SO considering that I dont like the interface of ACR(CS2)
Can anyone help ??
How do other Sinar eyelike people progress
(luckily most of my clients are happy with 'my edit')
My lappy is cr*p 1gb of ram because the second slot is bust - I will get another lappy soon but I would prefer a cheap fast PC but on sinar I am currently stuck with mac
(incedentally 1gb of ram is 'within' spec on captureshop - a lie - it doesnt work)
tell me about LR is the development windo the same as ACR or is it more like C1 etc
I am actually here to learn not just bash TH

Sam,
This thread is about eXposure,

I dont know.
the files come off the cameras as STIs (pending some kind of upgrade/firmware)
You might be then able to save them out from Exposure as DNGs
(doubling your RAW data and creating a big and time consuming batch process)
But I cant see the benefit of that exept you can pass those files to third parties (dital techs/graphic designers) who are happy/competent with DNGs but dont know how to deal with STIs (there may also be a future proofing element)
You can create DNGs with Brum software in seconds anyway
Say you add a curve/look white reference camera profile etc in the exposure and export then to DNG I suspect those settings may be lost anyway when broswing with LR bridge o C1 or whaterver (I may be wrong on this)
I am just a simple boy who wants to go
shoot maybe tethered (with a look applied to impress the client)
paste parameter/settings/wref/profile
create contact sheet
(client) makes selection
export selected tiffs
work up in PS
deliver
Either Exposeure will do all of this or it wont
If it wont can readers ehlp me by advising
a) what is the best DNG work flow if you have rubbish computer*
B ) what is the best DNG workflow when you have a good computer (laptop)
I'm all ears (eyes?)
S
*actually my rubbish computer was the dogs acouple of years ago and works fine with eyelike software and good with PS until you get to about four levels thick at 128mb - which is all I ever needed
its looking like upgrade = new computer even though I have no more MP - innefficient design
-
Sam,
before going to bed, my last answer today on this:
Exposure writes DNGs, not longer STIs, tethered or un-tethered, if you want it or not. Those DNGs can be exported as TIFFs, (among other formats), you will be able to save/paste/copy parameters, and you will be able to exports JPGs or Contact Sheets.
So all what you need for YOUR workflow described bellow is given.
Best regards,
Thierry

Well thats all good then
I didnt know it wrote DNGs
I hope it is quick and stable then it sounds great
(and numerical inputs for those values please)
as soon as I can afford my 15th mac this decade I will be all sorted

Now that the new year is upon us, is there any news on the software Exposure and when it might be released?
