Title: Focal length unavailable in Metadata Browser

I can select lens, aperture and shutter speed in the metadata browser but I can see no way to select the focal length (at which a zoom lens was set). The information is available in the EXIF data but does not appear as an option in the matadata browser in Library Module. Is there a reason for this?

My intention is to copy CA lens corrections to images shot with the same lens, focal length and aperture. Can anyone suggest a workaround?

I'm seeing something similar - the focal length is available, but the lens name isn't.  Raw files are native .dng format from my Pentax K10d, and all the metadata, including the missing lens name, is visible in the Pentax supplied Raw viewer.  Selecting an image, or a group of images in folder view in LR, then running the 'Update previews and metadata' command restores the lens type metadata, but is very slow for a large number of files.  Is this is a bug, or some kind of problem with the Pentax .dng files (.crw files from my Canon 10D that LR has converted to .dng don't show this problem) or am I just missing something?

Any help or comments would be appreciated!

Are you using Canon? as I understand it some models don't write the lens detail in the exif.   Wayne

No, the raw files from my Canon are fine - it is the files from my Pentax that have the problem.  The exif lens data IS in the Pentax raw files, but LR doesn't see it when the files are imported.  It seems to be necessary to do the 'Refresh previews and metadata' command to make the data visible.

Feels like a bug to me!!

Try this: Use the Find panel, change the search area to EXIF, then type in your focal length. The browser will then be filled with all the images shot at that focal length.

However, if you were searching for, say, 17, it would also pick up a shot at 170 mm. But if you do this in conjunction with a specific lens in the Metadata browser you can eliminate these false positives.

It seemed to work at first, but on second thought it has lots of problems because it will find the number ANYWHERE in the data and there is no facility to search for an exact match (e.g. "22 mm").

Adobe should fix the search function, or add it to the browser function. It shouldn't be that hard.

Meanwhile the method I outlined can help a bit in some cases.
