Title: Topic Subscription - Instant Email Notification
Post by: Dinarius on October 06, 2007, 04:09:41 am
With apologies to the administrators, I am posting this message here because:

a. There doesn't appear to be anywhere else for such messages.

b. My two PMs to administrators on the subject have resulted in zero replies.

My problem is this: every topic I subscribe to, I receive an email for *every* new message posted to that topic, not just the first one after my last visit.

This is only a recent occurrence and is driving me nuts.

There doesn't appear to be anything in the Help dealing with this - if I've missed it then I apologize.

What can I do about it?

For what it's worth, I am PC/Mozilla Firefox.

Many thanks.

D.

What you're describing is the normal behavior for the board, at least since it switched over to the current board software. You could try changing the email settings to "daily digest" so you only get one email per day.

Really simple...

My Controls button top right.  Options section, Email Settings.

Uncheck Email Notifications or change to whatever else you wish than 'Instant'.

You can set it to none (uncheck) and manually subscribe to any post you make at the time you make it.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I had worked out the other options. But, why does every email sent continue to state: "There may be more replies to this topic, but only 1 email is sent per board visit for each subscribed topic. This is to limit the amount of mail that is sent to your inbox."

The feature is an extremely useful one....when it's working. Which it patently is not.
