Title: Contax T3 35mm Film
Post by: yodelyo on August 29, 2007, 11:45:47 pm
hello
i just sold my Leica D-LX 3 point&shoot digital camera because it was just too expensive for what it was( big shutter lag, could not achieve a shallow depth of field 'look', even at F2.8 everything was sharp).

i want to buy a 35mm film camera point/shoot and like the Contax T3, if anybody has one then please let me know what they think of it. I plan on shooting color neg portra and tri-x through it. would love it if I could control depth of field, this camera has a F2.8 lens which I would think could really look nice with a shallow depth of field portrait kind of thing........ does it do this well? Is the shutter lag terrible?

I am a full time digital photgrapher for work but I want to use this for personal stuff w/ the family etc.

A very fine camera, I sold my T3 years ago, a bit pitty. You will like it I think, when  I was using my T3, I was using it a lot for people and swimsuit work, even at close distance, the image quality and sharpness and distortion control is very good. If there is a digital version of T3 of full frame CMOS, it could easily be a killer.  Sigma is said to come out a APSH size Foveon digicam that might be as close as it can get to T3.
