Hi folks,
I have an Epson Photo 2100 (2200 in USA) and usually print on Premium Semi Gloss using the Photo Black cartridge, now I see that for printing on matt paper the Matte Black cartridge is recomended.
If I swap the black cartridges will the part used one be ruined?
If not, how do you store it so that it can be used again?

If my experience is anything to go by, partly used carts can be stored for up to one year, packed only in the torn-open wrapping/box that the new one came in. I keep them in my bottom desk drawer, and just shake them CAREFULLY (after all, the seal is broken, and you don´t want a polka dot workplace....) before putting them back in the printer.

I just stuck mine in a ziplock baggie and stored similary upright--either the photo or matt, whichever I had changed out. I never had any problems with this either.

Ziplock baggie here too. I wrap it in a piece of paper towel to keep from making polka dots when I shake before reinstalling.

Me too: what Per and Diane said (and Rich).
I use the MK for 99% of what I do. Whichever black is out of the printer gets put (upright) into a ziplock bag. As Diane says, shake it gently a few times (while still in the ziplock bag) before swapping. I just used my rarely used PK cart for several prints the other day, and it acted like new even though it is well over a year old.
And the MK worked fine when I switched back.
That's one of the nice features of the 2100/2200 as compared with most of the bigger Epsons: You dan't waste many $$$ in ink whenever you swap blacks.
