Hi, I'm currently planning to upgrade my P30 to a P30+ or selling and going with an Aptus 65S. Has anyone who has made the upgrade noticed a big difference in image quality? I almost never use anything over 200 ISO, so high iso image quality isn't a big deal. Thanks in advance

why do you want to change platforms?
-
Just looking at my options really before decide to commit to one or the other. The dealer I work with told me about 8k for the upgrade to a P+. So even if I sold my P30 on the low end it would only cost me a few k more out of pocket for a 65S than the upgrade to P+. Just wondering really if the image quality is the same or has been improved upon with the new + backs at 100-200iso, if not I like the capture rate/bigger screen of the 65S and would most likely go with that instead. Hopefully some one will share an experience.

I haven't been on the P30 platform, I have been shooting P25's & now 45's. But if you do not need to be above 200 ASA, then I would not worry about switching.
As for the Aptus, look at the files and make sure it is what you want. The new V11 is working great and from what I have read, LR seems to do a good job with the files.
Talk to the guys at PPR to do the switch over. If your P30 is a mamiya mount I may have a buyer for you. A friend in Chile is looking for a P30 Mamiya mount.
Best of luck.

Say it's a Contax mount and I may purchase it.

I have been using an 65s for about 7 months now and love the quality...but it all depends on what you are shooting. If it is people and fashion/beauty I would go for Leaf.
It is like shooting film, same look and feel of images. Phase always looks a little to 'digital' to me...but the difference is very very small!
What I didn't like about phase is the that P30 sensor is completely different from the P45...while the Leaf 65 sensor is exactly the same as a 75 back just smaller. I like that I can preset a lot of setting in the back of the Leaf....but in the end you have to realy like the camera and abck you are shooting with!
The new 65s should be out the end of August and has a huge buffer/FW800 and is super fast, I tested the A75s last week and even that camera shoots superfast...and doesn't slow down..I can only imagine how fast the 65s is going to be ...and speed is what I need!!

My concern with the leaf was that it is pretty much useless for long exposures. It has a max of 30 seconds or so and the noise on long exposures is pretty significant.
That only left Phase as far as I know. The plus series can do an hour exposure and the examples I have seen are pretty clean.

Could someone chime in on the Hasselblad & Mamiya ZD backs on long exposures, noise issues, color issues.
Thanks,

Here is a link to a P30+ and a P45+ files that we shot at Capture Integration.

A few other key points that the new P+ backs offer are:
1. Better image quality in skin tones and shadow areas
2. Better burst quality - up to 70 frames per minute
3. Extreme exposure times - up to 1 hr.
4. Higher dynamic range - ISO up to 1600
5. Cleaner rear display - has 230,000 pixels

don't know anything about long exposures...my longest exposure is 1/60.....but mostly they are all 1/125 and I never shoot anything over 100 iso...so can't help you there.
