Title: Database corruption query

Hi Folks,
I'd appreciate any help or insight with the following problem. When I load up  LR 1.0 and perform a database integrity check, I receive an error message stating that the LR database is corrupt.
If I ignore the integrity check, LR appears to open as normal and I can't detect any obvious problems.
I have regular backups on my hard drive(s) and have the 'write to XMP' option switched on.
Is it possible to determine why the database is corrupt and repair the database or can I start a new database and still retain all my settings (edit history etc)?
Any help on how to deal with this problem would be much appreciated,
