Perhaps this has been mentioned somewhere but I don't recall seeing it. If your Canon ipf5000 is on Ethernet, put its IP address into your favorite browser and you can do a lot of things and easily get information that is more cumbersome to get with the standard tools. Check the Administrator login box and leave the password blank. I've found the ink levels display and the ink usage for each print job pages to be very useful.
