Title: 6-5-07 New MacBook Pro
Post by: bob mccarthy on June 05, 2007, 02:19:39 pm
It's probably too early, but has anyone looked at the new LED backlit screens and how does it compare to the old ones?

I'm ready to pop for a new laptop.

Takes up to 4 gig's too.

They are super bright from what I've read
(and seen) on macrumors.com forums and
have very even elumination unlike the predecessor.

The 17" doesn't have the backlit led displays
if thats worth mentioning.

Maybe soneone with hands on experience can
tell us if the new type of displays can be calibrated
with one of the exisiting colorimeters (spyder, pantone ...)?

The new screens have a much nicer tonal range, and appear a lot brighter although they supposedly are the same panel with different backlighting(LED) as opposed to a true LED screen. They make the laptop lighter and the battery last longer so it's definitely a nice upgrade. I haven't ordered one yet, so I can't speak to the ability to calibrate it, the colors seemed remarkably natural though uncalibrated.
