Title: Printing a cropped image
Post by: Don Davis on June 05, 2007, 06:49:19 am
I crop to 4x6 and image looks great on screen.  However, when I print, image is cut off at the bottom by about 1/2 inch so I have to widen the crop to compensate.  Any suggestions for a fix?

I use a 20" iMac G4 and an Epson 2200 printer.

Thanks.

If you're printing borderless, your printer will oversize the print to ensure that there's no thin white borders at the edge of the print. 1/2 inch sounds pretty extreme, though - I'd be expecting no more than 1/4 inch and probably less than that. Double check that you are cropping in Lightroom to 6 x 4.

The solution is to crop less tight - and/or find the option in the printer drive that controls the amount of expansion, if there is one, and turn it down. Many printers default to maximum expansion on borderless, when turning this right down is usually nearer the mark.
