All your Nikon lenses will work on a Nikon digital camera. If you were to buy a Canon DSLR none of your lenses would be of use.
A Nikon DSLR is clearly what you should get unless you're going to abandon your lenses.
Both camera will produce comparable results.

If you're not willing to sell all of your Nikon glass and start over with Canon glass, buy a Nikon digital body for your Nikon lenses.
I'd like to add that Canon bodies can use Nikon, Zeiss, Leica, Pentax, and Olympus lenses with the appropriate adapter.

I own a Nikon N90s and want to switch to a digital camera. My selections are the Nikon D70 or the Canon Rebel. I have set of lens from 24mm to 300mm, but I'm not sure they can be used on the D70. Also, which camera generates the better image. Any advice?

just some additionals: nikon lenses can be used on canon bodies with an adapter, but auto focus won't be functioning.
on the other hand, canon lenses can't be used on nikon bodies.

I would recommend a Canon lens adapter. You can still enjoy the use of your new canon camera while still enjoying the quality of all your old lenses.
