Title: ddc support lacie 321?
Post by: jschone on February 22, 2007, 01:49:06 pm
Hi,

I am using the Lacie 321 on mac g5 with the Geforce 6600.
For calibration I use the Eye one display 2. When I use the eye one match software it does not find any PBC compliance (automatic monitor calibration).

I tried a trial version of BasicColor and also here calibration through hardware LUT is no option.

I am starting to be confused here. Am I overseeing something?

My Blue-eye pro works fine with my 321. Its more than likely the e1d2 wasnt designed for the Lacie but for OEM NEC. If I am not mistaken, Lacie tweaks their LCDs.

Try Coloreyes as well.

BTW I don't think e1d2 software works with NEC monitors.

Hi,

Thank your for the reply. The problem was solved by using ColorEyes. Thanks Serge.

No problem. You often see Coloreyes developers on this and other boards complaining  how hard it is to offer DDC support because of the lack of standards and so forth.

Serge, not some much complaining as trying to define the problem and lower the expectations. A monitor manuafacturer's claim that a monitor is ddc compatible obscures that 6-8 various permutations of ddc that might be present assuming they adhere to the protocol. Then you add in Eizo that does something entirely different than ddc, and NEC who refuses to release their software sdk to anyone, add in a few more monitors like the new samsung led model and you have a deep and twisted mess that somethimes we're amazed ever works at all! It's never dull however.
